ON 'CHANGE.
BUSINESS SLOWS DOWN. COMMERCIAL BANKS DROP. There was a much quieter tone on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning, and at the first call only three sales were registered. Selling quotations generally remained steady, but for actual business buyers demanded concessions. In the banking section Commercials steadied after yesterday's sharp drop and were quoted between 16/2 and 16/3, a shilling lower than a week ago. Xew South Wales were quoted, ex div., from £31 to £32 15/. Reserves maintained strength, with buyers at £6 10/ and no sellers, and New Zcalands were steady from £2 11/ to £2 11/3. In Government stocks there was little change in the market. Australian stocks were not sought so keenly. Sugars were off the list and Broken Hills were available at £3 5/6, with no buyers. Auckland Gas shares were on offer at £1 5/9, with no buyers. The Noon Call. The recent easing in South British Insurance was confirmed with a sale at, the noon call 1/3 lower, at £4 15/3. Commercial Banks have apparently steadied at the lower level, and a sals was made at 16/3, or Id higher. Buyers were still offerintr 16/3, but sellers raised their limits to 16/6. Generally speaking, quotations show little change, and the market ;'s quiet and steady.
