GANGERS INJURED.
ONE SENT TO HOSPITAL TRANSFER OF PASSENGERS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, this day. Slips were occurring all day yesterday and gangers were at work continuously clearing the line. About one o'clock this morning a whole hillside 2£ miles south of Ongarue seemed to slip away. Two gangers named Gascoyno and Williams were partly buried by the pumice and had to lie dug out. Mr. Gascoyne was slightly injured in the legs and shocked and was sent to the Taumarunui Hospital for treatment. Mr. Williams was not injured. Debris covered the line for a chain in length and ten feet higii. Passengers on the night expresses from Auckland and Wellington transferred at the slip. The pumice being dry made good walking, and all were transferred with as little inconvenience as possible. A down train was sent from Taumarunui to deal -with the slip, and the line is not yet clear for traffic.
