CUSTOMS UNION.
Mr. Doidge in his answer to the Hon. S. G. Smith re free trade states that his opinions thereon have been widelv published in the Dominion. The only policy that Mr. Doidga has been reported on has stated that he stood for removing the tariff and giving free entry to all British goods. Now he is called to account he qualifies this by stating that he stands for the "fullest measure of free trade possible." This we already have. as we import from England, on Mr. Doidge's own figures, to our full capacity, allowing for our indebtedness of interest. He has never before been reported as even considering our own secondary industries; in fact he has conveyed the idea that they are, in his opinion, unnecessary. U.M.P-
