A FISHING GIANT.

SOLD TO RUSSIA. CREW OF 400. (Special.—By Air Mail.) LOSTDOX, August 3. The largest fishing vessel in the -world has just been sold by her British owners to Russia. This super-trawler, the Arctic Queen, belonged to a firm at Hull. The ship, which carried a crew of 400, has been berthed at Hull for nearly a year, since she returned from a long fishing voyage to the Davies Straits, Greenland. She brought back from a single voyage 70,000 halibut, which were kept fresh in refrigerated compartments and brought out for sale just as the market required them, and was ready to give a price which would show a profit. The result was that the halibut market never slumped, despite the huge catch. The ship carried about forty small motor boats from which Norwegians, able to withstand the intense cold of the Arctic, put out as many as 160,000 hooks at a time. What Russia intends to do with the ship is not yet known. The Arctic Queen is equipped as a mobile factory, with a siren on board to tell the staff when to start work and when to cease, and to call in her fleet of motor boats.
