FIRE IN CHURCH.

INTERIOR BADLY GUTTED. VINCENT DE PAIL BUILDING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Fire which broke out about 0.30 last night almost completely gutted the interior of the St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church at Northland. Although it is not possible to assess the full amount of the damage it is considered that the loss will be heavy. The outbreak is believed to have started in the sacristy behind the altar and quickly spread into the nave of the church. All of the furniture in the sanctuary, including the altar, was reduced "to cinders and the sacred pictures on the wall were destroyed.
