OVERCOME BY FUMES.
MAN'S PERIL IN LAUNCH.
Overcome by fumes after the petrol stove on board his launch exploded, a resident of the Wade River district. Mr. Waldron,-had a narrow escape from serious injury when a neisrhbour dragged him out of danger on Tuesday.
Intending to overhaul the petrol cooking stove on his launch, Mr. Waldron did no! notice that the stove was evidently leaking, and when lie applied a light the petrol container exploded, and flames spread to the cabin of the launch. He quickly applied the fire extinguisher, but it was not sufficient to put out the flames. Apparently overcome by the fumes, lie fell to the floor unconscious. Seeing the smoke rising from the river, a neighbour ran down with the extlnsruisher kept in the house, and. putting out the flames, dragged Mr. Waldron out of danger.
Yesterday Mr. Waldron was confined to bed, and was suffering from the effects of liis experience.
