SUCCESSFUL SEASON.
ROTORTJA RACING CLUB. • THE ANNUAL REPORT. The report and balance-sheet o£ the Rotorua Racing Club, to be submitted at the annual meeting, states that the year opened with a membership of 172. Four new members were elected during the year, while losses by death, resignation and other causes numbered 10, leaving the actual membership at the close of the year 160, a loss of 12. The annual race meeting took place on February 9 and 11. Again unsettled weather conditions prevailed, but notwithstanding this the attendance and the general financial results were very satisfactory, the profit from the fixture amounting to £1122 2/7, against £440 4/7 for the previous season. Whereas the 1933-34 season showed a loss of £280 8/5, the year under review disclosed a profit of £220 12/. The difference was almost wholly accounted for by the returns from the last race meeting. The preliminary work for the erection of fifty new loose boxes was under way, and they would be completed for the next meeting, to be held in February. In addition the club had been committed to an expenditure of over £000 for filling, grading, levelling, etc. The main work in the latter was the formation of the eastern bend of the new race track and the grading and levelling; of the new lawn area that was to be incorporated for use when the change over to the new racing track eventuated. The retiring members of the executive—president, Dr. Bertram; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. H. Tripe and W. H. Wackrow; and members of the committee, Messrs. W. Galbraith, N. M. Keane, C. K. Tapper and Geo. Urquhart— were all eligible for re-election.
