After an active dnjf yesterday the markets opened briskly with prices firm. The inquiry was strong in tliu Government section. Stock, '»7-'4O, sold at £101 10/, 1949 at €ilO, and 19.w at £112 12/6. Bank of Adelaides came on the sale list with business at .Cli. E.. S. and A. moved up with a sale at £5 14/ Unions turned over at .€9 11/. National of New Zealand were firmer, with buyers at £3 12/ and sellers £•'> 14/. New South Wales had buyers at £33 10/, and New Zealands at £2 11/0. New Zealand Breweries sold at £2 12/11. Broken Hill Proprietary had buyers Gd up, at £3 If. Consolidated Brick had business and buyers at 11/6. Coles had business and buyer at £3 8/3. Woolworths (.Sydney) were easier; sellers £5 10/6, buyers XT> 10/. Mount Morgans were prominent. Five parcels were sold at £1 19/3. Mahakipawa sold at 3d, with further sellers. Waihia were stronger, with" buyers nt £1 Hi.' and no sellers. Emperor .Mines were easier, buyers i, 1 5/6, sellers £1 7/2.
