WAR VETERANS.
LORD GALWAY'S TRIBUTE. PRICELESS EMPIRE ASSET. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Wednesday. Appreciation of the part New Zealand soldiers played in the South African War and the Great War was expressed by the Governor-General, Loid Galway, when formally opening the annual conference of the South African War Veterans' Association to-day. His Excellency was warmly received by the veterans, who represented all parts of the Dominion, and the announcement that he would become patron of the association was received with applause and cheers. Replying to the welcome, Lord Galway said people at Home had not forgotten that New Zealand took a prominent part in the South African and Great Wars to help the Crown. The support of the Dominions was a priceless asset to the Empire.
