"HERE GOES ANOTHER."
THIEF SENT TO PBISON. "Well, here goes another thief into the cooler." This was the remark made by FrankMorton, a ship's fireman, aged 42, to Constable McGnire when entering the door of the central police station on August 16. Morton's prophecy was fulfilled to-day, when Mr. Wyveni Wilson, S.M., sent him to prison for threo months on a charge of stealing three pairs of troueers, valued at £2 18/G, the property of R. Jaffe and Co., Ltd. Morton pleaded guilty. Constable McGuire said he found Morton in a loan shop. He was in a half drunken condition, and had three pairs of trousers which he was offering for sale at £1. Each pair of trousers was priced at 19/0. He admitted stealing the trousers from Jaffe and Co.'s shop. "Any chance of a term on probation ?" Morton asked the magistrate. "Your list does not offer any prospect of probation," replied Mr. Wilson. "It shows that you have been in trouble for the last 14 yeara."
