FAREWELL EVENING.

Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Crawshaw, of Rawhiti Road, One Tree Hill, wcro host and hostess on behalf of the Tawhiri Social Progressive Club in a farewell gathering to Mr. D. S. Chalmers at their homo on Saturday evening. There were about thirty club members and guests present and a pleasant time was spent with music and games. After supper the good wishes of the club to the guest of honour, who leaves this evening on transfer to Waipawa, were expressed by Messrs. N. V. Baker, president, E. L. Crawshaw, secretary, and S. P. Crompton. The speakers referred appreciatively to the numerous valuable services rendered by the guest since the foundation. Since the notice of his going away had been so short it had only been possible to make a gift jointly with the Scott Hall branch of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church and that would be made with others at a Church farewell in Onehunga the following evoning. Mr. Chalmers expressed his gratitude for the kind thought of the hosts and the committee in acknowledging in this way what he had been privileged to be able to do and wished all well in their future activities.
