HOSPITAL BOARD RELIEF.
MT. EDEN COUNCIL'S VIEW.
"Seeing that we contribute over £6000, and not one penny of it is spent in the borough, I think we should ask that any money spent on assisting people on relief in the borough should be spent with the business firms in the borough," said Mr. R. Mills, at last night's meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council, when the secretary of the Hospital Board advised that the council's contribution for the year ending March 31, 193G, would be £(5044.
"When people from this borough go to the Hospital Board for relief the poods are supplied by city firms," Mr. Mills said. Mr. K. N. Buttle: We have the right to suggest wo should have some return for the money we contribate. The Mayor (Mr. T. McNab) : Every ratepayer pays 4ld in the- £ as a hospital rate. We are certainly entitled to some return. It was decided to write to the Hospital Board on the lines suggested.
