GHEE BUTTER.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTION. PREPARATION OF SAMPLES. The Auckland Chamber of Commerce Council this morning received advice from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research that an officer of the Department would shortly visit the Auckland district in order to submit samples of ghee, butter to former residents of India. The secretary of the Department etated that in regard to a proposal that samples of ghee should bo distributed, the Department had waited until it prepared some samples entirely similar to those received from India. It had had some difficulty in getting the combination of the chceey and caramel flavour, "but the results were suggestive of euccess. It was proposed that the samples should be shown to people who had experience of India, as without the contact there would not bo much value in the reports on the samples. If the samples were acceptable to those with Indian experience it was proposed to prepare another set of samples to send to Eastern countries.
