AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. . THE ANNUAL REPORT. The report to be submitted at the annual meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, to be held at the Chamber of Commerce, Swanson Street', -on- Monday, August 12, states that the committee had pleasure in congratulating members upon another successful eeasoii. The amount given in stakes was £3a,775, being an increase of £1025 over the previous year, notwithstanding that the winter meeting carried one event lese this season. Weather conditions somewhat adversely affected results at each of. the four meetings, but the racing throughout was excellent and competition keen.. The racecourse property has been well maintained throughout the period under -review, and the committee did not see any necessity to make any provision for depreciation, the various improvements being at present ■well worth their book values. The committee regretted having to record the loss by death during the year of several members, including Mr. John ltowe, a life member, and well known throughout the Dominion for hie interest in the sport. The only nominees for the offices of president and vice-president are Mr. Oliver Nicholson and Dr. A. McGregor Grant respectively, and they will be declared duly elected unopposed. Messrs. J. M. Carpenter, Thos. Impey, E. H. B. Milsom, -"W. H. Lunn and G. A. Wynyard (retiring committeemen) had been nominated for the five seats on the committee; and for the three seats on the stewards Messrs. Brian L. Hewitt, M. J. Lynch and Eric H. Nolan (retiring stewards) had been nominated. As the nominations did not exceed the number of seats available a ballot will not be necessary The balance-sheet shows a profit tor the year of £397, after writing off £1000 for district training tracks (Takanini) giving £238 in donations and providing £200 tor bad debts reserve. Revenue amounted to £20,322, made up of race meetings, £16 606 members' subscriptions and reserved motor stalls, £2755, rente and grazing, £538, and track fees £423. .Expenditure included wages, £7921. salaries and pensions, £2223, rates £2006, repairs and maintenance £1321, printing, stationery and advertising, £1121, and conference levies, £1064. The race meeting accounts show that the totalisator. yielded £66.2J0, of which the Government received £36,273 in taxation, and the club ±29,y0d. Gates, cards-and privileges, etc., brought in £22 991, and nominations, etc., io/07. 4part from stakes. £35,775, tthe principal payments were officials, gatemen, bands, etc £4478 and amusements tax £14ob. Assets are shown at £132,476, including racecourse, £35,346, buildings (stands, booths, cottages, stables) isator building and machines £l/.000, fencing, furniture, .dining room P'a»t, turnstiles, working plant, etc., £/033, tea kiosk (including plant and furniture) £4500 Shortland Street property £3000, cash in bank £2145, and district tramins tracks £1000 (after writing off £1000). On the liabilities side are loans and deposits £9636. «

YEARLING PARADE.

Prior to the opening event at the Manawatu Racing Club's % inter meeting on Saturday seven yearlings paraded and sprinted a couple of' lurloiiirs down the straight.
