MANUKAU CLUB. ! A strong westerly wind anil frequent 1 light showers made racing slightly more 1 difficult than usual 011 Saturday, when ' the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club held its events' at Avondale South. There was a very poor number of starters for the club's junior championship and senior unpaced championships. There were only two starters in the junior race of nine miles, and K. Tucker was unfortunate to puncture not far from the start. However, he returned, then continued on a borrowed wheel, but had lost too much time, leaving A. PAPATOETOE CLUB. The seniors held a 30-mile race over the Clevedon course. The weather and road conditions were against fast 'times. The winner, O. White (4.0), showing a welcome return to form, won from A. Webster (0.30), with llobertson (0.0) half a length behind. The fastest time went to S. Pinfold, who dropped his comarker, It. Mclniiarney. Placings were as follow: O. White (4.0), 1; A. Webster (0.30), 2; A. Robertson (9.0), 3. Fastest time: S. Pinfold (scr), 115.10. Second fastest, O. White, 117.31. The juniors held 11 time trial to Papakura and back, a distance of 15 miles. C. Picknell again rode well to win by a comfortable margin. The second man in was F. Glendining, who was closely followed by W. McGhlc. Results were: C. Picknell'(3.3o), 1; F. Glendining (2.30), 2; W. McGhie (2.30). 3. Fastest time, It. Waterman (455), 71.3. Second fastest, J. Picknell (scr), 71.30. BEACHHAVEN AMATEURS. The Beacliliavcn Amateur Club lield a 223 miles road race. Owing to the collapse of the culvert 011 the Birkdale circuit, it was necessary to cancel the five-lap event previously arranged. lhc emergency race was over five laps of a very treacherous circuit, and times were slow. Punctures caused many retirements. The race resulted as follow :—D. Fatten (-.30), 71.54, 1; A. Elia (scr), 71.10, 2; C. French (scr), 71.17, 3; J. Culpan (scr), 72.5, 4. Fastest time was recorded by A. Elm. The Birkdale circuit will be closed for the remainder of the season. /TAKAPUNA CLUB. The Takapuna Club held two races over the lake circuit. An 18-mile time trial and sealed handicap was held by the Waikato A unit ear Cycling Club 011 Saturday, the course being from Huntly to Ngarua waliia and back. The race resulted in a victory for C. Bryant (2.0), 47.30. R. Norman (scr), 47.39, was second and G. Bryant (10.0). 49.0, third. R. Norman had the fastest time, 47.39, Nine starters. THAMES CLUB. The Thames Cycling Club held a 24-mile road race 011 Saturday, a cross wind and light showers prevailing throughout the race. Result: —L. Bethel, 8.30, 1 ; W. Burr, 1.30, 2; R. C. Burr, 1.30, 3. Fastest time was registered by W. Burr, who coveted the distance in 08.15. The junior race over four miles resulted : J. Marshall 1, B. Hawkins 2, It. Hintoa 3. Next Saturday's senior event will be over a distance of 21 miles. HAMILTON SPORTS CLUB. The Hamilton Amateur Sports Club conducted a road race 011 Saturday from Hamilton East to Bank's Corner, Cambridge Road, and back, a distance of 19 miles. Result: —J. Itodgers. sen., 1, B. Shaw 2, L. Campbell 3. T. Shaw did the distance iii the fastest time, 50.20. ROTORUA CLUB. The Rotorua Amateur Cycling Club he'.d a time trial event over 12J miles on Saturday. Result: —B. The Auckland Ladies' Amateur Cycling Club conducted a four-lap race at Mount Albert 011 Saturday. The times were slower than usual, on account of the wind. Miss Hazelle Storey rode consistently and won comfortably from 50s mark in 13.21. Miss Violet Baird was second with fastest . time in 12.42. GLOUCESTER CLUB. AUCKLAND CLUB. The junior championship of the Auckland Cycle Club whs decided at Panmure in showery weather. In addition, the seniors held a 23 miles handicap and the ladies a C l . miles event lor a shield presented by Mr. R. Flanagan. Good iields competed. Fifteen started in, the junior championship of 10 miles, Which included ROSS Jones, 1034 amateur champion. A sealed handicap was held in conjunction.
