TIMARU, Wednesday.

Advice has been received at Timaru from Sydney that Sir George Julius, civil engineer, of Sydney, has accepted a eeat on the board of directors of the Whakatane Paper Mills, Limited.

Sir George Julius is the eldest son of Archbishop Julius, of Christchurch. He was on the engineering staff of the Western Australian railways from 1896 to 1907, since which year he has been in practice as a consulting engineer in Sydney. He has been chairman of the Australian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research since 1926. He is also chairman of the Standards Association of Australia. He is the inventor of the automatic totalisator.
