CLASSIC CLUB

The seventh meeting of the Classic Club took place recently, when an interesting programme of British music was presented. The performers who took part were: Miee Patricia McLeod, who sang "Have You Seen But a White Lily Grow" (arranged L. Lehmaiin), "Come Again" (Dowland), "A Spring Morning" (Carey), and three songs in Gaelic. Miee Lillian Kennedy's numbers were "Dido's Lament" (Purcell), "A Song of Shadows" (A. Gibbs), "A Welsh Lullaby" (Parry), "Cupid's Song" (G. Williams. Miss Irene Rich contributed "Come, Calm Content" (Arne), "Cherry Ripe" (Horn), "Oh No, John" (arranged .Sharp), "Cuttin' Rushes" and "Johneen" (Stanford). Mr. Henry Donaldson eang "Four Hebridean Love Lilte" (arranged Kennedy-Fraeer), "Brittany" (Farrar), "Love , * Secret" (Bantock), and Mr. Harold Davie. "Gentle Zephyr" (Bennett), "Revenge" (Hatton), "Looking Back" and "My Captain" (Cyril Scott). Pianoforte solos were rendered by Mise Lyndall Hurley, who played "Sonata in A" (Arne), and Mrs. C. F. Fowler's numbers were "An English Waltz" and "Danee Negro" (Scott). Violin solos, "Old Welsh Air" (arranged Sammonds), "Berceuse" and "Serenade" (M. Ackernley), wcro contributed by Miss Daphne Higham.

The programme was well received by a largo audience of members and friends, and a light supper was served at the conclusion of an enjoyable evening.
