WEEKLY LUNCHEON HELD. TALKS OX AVIATION. The president, Rotarian J. P. O'Connor, occupied the chair at to-day's lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, held in Milne and Choyce's reception hall. There was an exceptionally large attendance, including a large number of visitors, among whom were Messrs. H. 11. Payne (Birmingham). B. Sheil (Sydney).* J. H. Skoal (Whanprarei), J. P. Gamble (Paeroa). R. Holt, K. McLeay and J. R. Rosa (Napier), S. McDonald (Invereargill). R. K. Ireland (Oamaru), C. B. Peterson (Rotorua), A. W. Parton (Wellington), and A. G. Hewitt (Dunedin).
The speaker of the day was to have been Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, but ho was absent through indisposition. In his absence Mr. Spencer Mason, president of the Auckland Aero Club, who had arranged for the visit, spoke briefly on the changed conditions that had come into existence since the club was founded, and said the logical sequence of the modern developments in aviation was the linking together of all parts of the Empire.
Mr. Beau Sheil, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith's secretary, then addressed the members on the principles involved in flying the Tasman and detailed the proposals which were being placed before the New Zealand Government.
At the close a vote of thanks, moved by Rotarian Seabrook, was carried.
