LOAN EXHIBITION.

ANTIQUE FURNITURE. ENCOURAGING RESPONSE., An encouraging response is being made to the appeal for antique furniture, china, glassware ornaments, etc., for the loan exhibition to be held from September 20 to October 4 in aid of the funds of the Girl Guides' Association and the Plunket Society. The exhibition will be held on three floors of Messrs. L. D. Nathan's (late Hart's) buildings, High Street.

The offerings so far cover a wide range, and it is expected that all important periods of furniture, from Tudor to Sheraton, will be well represented. Every day reports are being brought to the committee of the existence of valuable collections. Among the articles that have been promised are many of great historic interest, both from the European and Dominion point of view. There are several rare objets d'art that have belonged to Royal personages and have fascinating stories woven round them. Articles for exhibition should be at least 100 years old, except in the case of the effects of persons connected with the early history of Auckland up to ISoO. The committee will arrange for the transport of furniture to and from the exhibition and will insure all articles at the owner's valuation.

Collectors willing to coirtribute to the exhibition should communicate with the honorary secretary, P.O. Box 30, Auckland.
