A FUNNY NUMBER.
Take the number 142.857. Multiply it by two. The product is 285,714; that is, all the. digits in the original number are in their original order, beginning with the third digit.
Multiply the original number by three. Product, 426,571. The exact order is maintained, beginning with the second digit of the original number.
Multiply it by five and you have 714,2S5 —the same figures, the same order. Multiply by six and you have 857,142.
Finally, when you multiply by seven it would seem as if the digits had all rebelled at being overworked. They all vanish, and we have the startling product 999,999!
