SHIPPING NEWS.

AORANGI ARRIVES MONDAY,

CANADIAN SCOTTISH AND PORT ADELAIDE.

With the departure last night of the Omana and the Aelybryn for Lyttelton and the Columbia for Nauru Island this morning, the only occupants of the tharves are the Kairanga, which arrived last evening from Norfolk Island, and tlie Margaret W., under repairs to lier crankshaft, both at the King's wharf. Matters will improve quickly. The Canadian Scottish arrives from Adelaide at 7 a.m. to-morrow, followed by the Port Adelaide at S a.m. from New Plymouth. At 5) a.m. 011 Monday the Aorangi arrives from Sydney.

Aorangi arrives at 7 a.m. 011 Monday, berthing at the Prince's wharf. She has passengers and 112 bags of mail, and leaves for Vancouver at 11 a.m. 011 Tuesday. (U.S.S. Co.)

Canadian Scottish arrives at 7 a.m. to-morrow to complete loading, and sails for New York, Boston and Montreal 011 Tuesday night. (C.N.S.)

Port Adelaide arrives to-morrow morning in course of loading. She is expected to leave for Napier 011 Wednesday, and sails from Wellington for London 011 August 1. (Farmers' Co-op.)

Kairanga arrived last evening from Norfolk Island. She brought 2300 cases of oranges, the first shipment to Auckland for three years. She is expected to sail on Tuesday night for Wellington. (U.S.S. Co.)

Monowai arrived at Levuka, the old capital of Fiji, yesterday morning. From Levuka she goes to Suva and back to Auckland, arriving next Wednesday at 7 a.m. (U.S.S. Co.)

Columbia came out of dock this morning and sailed later on her return to Nauru Island. (8.P.C.)

Waipiata is due from Southern ports on Monday afternoon with her usual cargo of produce. (U.S.S. Co.

Ngaio (1203 tons), late Mapourika, and Regulus (554 tons), of the Anchor Line, have been bought by Messrs. F. 12. Jackson and Co., of Auckland, to be broken up for scrap iron and sent to Japan. F.E.J, and Co.)

H.M.S. Dunedin is now on her way from Honolulu to Penrliyn Island, where she is due on Wednesday. Her next calls will be at Bora Bora (20th), Takaa (30th), Moorea (August 2), arriving at Papeete on August 0. (Naval Dept.)

H.M.S. Diomede is at Papeete. She leaves that port to-iuorrow for Bora Bora (July 22), Penryhn (July 23), Puka Puka (July 30), and arrives at Pago Pago, Samoa, on Wednesday, July 31, where she remains until August 5. (Naval Dept.)

H.M.S. Leith leaves Savu Savu on Monday for Levuka, where she arrives on Tuesday, staying there until Friday. From Levuka she visits Ngau (July 2*o- - and arrives at Suva on Monday, July 29, where she remains until Wednesday, 31. (Naval Dept.)

H.M.S. Wellington is at Vila to-day, where she stays until Wednesday. Her next ports of call will be Hog Harbour (July 25-30), Nauru (August 3-5). Ocean Island (August 0-8), Tarawa (August 9-23). She is due at Suva on September 11. (Naval Dept.)

The Shaw, Savill and Alljion steamer Mahana, which left Wellington on June 6 for London and West Coast ports of the United Kingdom, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. is reported to have arrived at London on Wednesday. THE CITY OF GLASGOW. The New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the City of Glasgow left NewYork 011 July 10 and Newport News on July 12 for Auckland, Wellington, Lvttelton, Punedin and Australia. She is' due at Auckland about August 13. SUBSIDISED SHIPPING SERVICE. A new contract for the maintenance of the subsidised shipping service between Australia and Tasmania by means of the new ship Taroona has been completed by : the Commonwealth Government. The con- I tract, which is between the Commonwealth 1 and Tasmanian Steamers Pty., Ltd.. is for f the conveyance of mails between Melbourne 1 and Launceston and Melbourne and Burnie 1 for a period of ten years.
