FARMERS AND EXCHANGE.
Apart from want of taste on the part of the president of the Agricultural and ? as " toral Association in introducing his political views at the opening of the Winter Show on Wednesday last, I would ask >Ir. Carr how lie arrives at his figures—that had there been no exchange we might have been getting 1/ per pound for our butterfat. This statement is incorrect. Whether the exchange has been a benefit to the country as a whole is another matter. As a farmer myself, 1 state emphatically that the exchange has been a substantial benefit to all farmers in tiie North Island, ana those are the people who. as president, he is supposed to represent when opening the Winter Show. His remarks do not meet with the approval pf a great majority of those interested in producing primary products. A FARMER OF MANY YEARS.
