LEAGUE FOR PEACE.
DISCUSSION ON ABYSSINIA.
The usual meeting of t!i? Worn en s Intel iu' tlctial League for Peace and l'reeflrm was held at the F,il,ian Club, Mr-. Pickett presiding. In connection witli the recent death of Mrs. Rcwa Bennett, a forin-r member of the le*gm.\ the president expressed the great loss sustained bv the organisations to which she had belonger members standing in silence as a tribute to her memory and sympathy with the bereaved relatives. Mrs. Dreaver made an appreciative speech on Mrs. Bennett's work. The danger of war in Abyssinia was discussed at some length, the secretary being instructed to write to headquarters at Geneva begging the officials there to protest in the name of all the national sections to the league and also the Italian Government against Itajian aggression in Abyssinia. It was also decided to ask the British section to co-operate in any way possible. The president then gave a short report of the welcome tendered to Airs. MofTatt Clow, of Northern Ireland, hy the W.C.T.U., at which the league was represented. A resolution, "That this meeting of women congratulates the group of Anglican clergymen upon their recent manifesto re unemployment, and trusts that other sections of the Christian Church will support therii," was carried unanimously. A short musical programme comprising musical monologues by Mrs. Dreaver, a reading by Mrs. Rowlatt, and songs and poi dances by two young friends from Orakei concluded the meeting.
