NEW WOMEN'S CLUB.
TALK ON ASTROLOGY. There was a good attendance of members at the New Women's Club roorna on Friday afternoon for the usual social period and to hear a talk on astrology given by Mrs. G. Dyson. The president, Mrs. W. B. Darlow, was .in the chair, the hostesses for the afternoon being Mrs. E. Sawers and Mrs. A. E. Robinson. The speaker introduced her subject by explaining the relationship between astronomy and astrology. Astrology was the earlies religion of the race, the ancients ruling their lives according to its unchanging law. The Bible was full of astrological references and statements, but not understood by the majority for want of the key to unlock the meanings. There was a record in Ptolemy's library in ancient Egypt which mentioned the case of the two Government astrologers—Hi and Ho, of China—being dismissed from their positions for failing to notify the approach of an eclipse of the sun in 21;j4 B.C.
