PASSENGERS FROM 'FRISCO

Passengers on the Monterey, which arrived this morning at Auckland from San Francisco, totalled 309, of whom GO landed at Auckland. Very heavy weather was encountered yesterday, and all windows on the promenade deck had to be closed. The rough weather delayed the vessel and she berthed at 8.30 a.m., about an hour and a half later than usual. Among the passengers were the following:— Mr. J. L. McKniglit, counsel and assistant secretary to the B. F. Goodrich Company, Hudson, Ohio, on a business visit to New Zealand. Mr. and Mrs. James J. Newman and family. Mr. Newman is vice-president of the B. F. Goodrich Company, Akron, Ohio. He is visiting New Zealand. Sir Henry Barraclough, a prominent Sydney professor, returning to Sydney after a trip to England. » The Rev. Dr. F. J. Barry, of Huntingdon, New York, on a visit to Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Gorham Bliss. Mr. Bliss, who is on a holiday trip to Australia, is president and treasurer of the Worthy Paper Company, Association, Springfield, Massachusetts. Mr. H. Stanley Brady, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, returning to Sydney after a visit to the United States. Mr. W. Russell Hauslaib, regional manager for Packard Motors Export Corporation, New York, on a business trip to Australia. Colonel and Mrs. G. H. Holland, en route to Australia. Colonel Holland is a British Army officer in London. Miss Mary Allen, artist and lecturer of Melbourne, returning after spending two vears in the United States. Mr. N. Coker, publisher, of Warlingham. returning to Australia after a holiday in England. Mr. F. R. M. de Paula, controller of finance. Dunlop Rubber Company, Limited, London, on a visit to Australia. Miss Dorothy Gordon, commercial artist, of on a visit to Melbourne.
