RANGITOTO "BACHES."
In vour account of the discussion at tie Waitemata County Council you stat-e that "the Auckland City Council also wrote that thcv were in favour of the being P r ® served in its natural state." This is of the report from the Parks Committee o the Auckland City Council, and in fairness you should publish tiie whole, which was as follows: "This committee is of opinion that Rangitoto should he available as a d°niain for the public in its natural state and that tlie preservation of the island and the nora in its natural state can best be accomplished bv allotting suitable locations as camping sites, thereby obtaining the help of campers for the protection of the area from lire an for the preservation of native flora, but that the planting of exotics be prohibited." (vide "Star," 7/0/35.) Mr. E. Davis, the Mayor of Auckland, also spoke in favour of allowing "baches" on Rangitoto. RANG I.
