TAXI CAB LICENSES.

HAMILTON POLICY.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", Thursday. A proposal to limit further taxi-cab licenses in the town, made by the Hamilton Taxi Oowners' Association, was not supported by the council last evening. The taximen stated that with 40 taxis licensed there was one to every 450 of population. They quoted other cities and towns to show that they had much fewer taxis per head of population. The town clerk said that in a recent by-law the council had limited the taxi licenses to 47, and at present there were 41. The council decided to adhere to the provisions of the by-law.
