DEBUTANTES' DANCE.

AN ATTRACTIVE SCENE.

One of the most enjoyable private occasions of tho season was held in the Rialto Ballroom last evening when a number of Auckland hostesses held a debutante dance for their daughters. Each young girl was dressed in white or cream and carried a pretty little posy. The scene was most attractive, its simplicity most charming. A large number of friends attended and a delightful time was spent. The ballroom was decorated with streamers and large clusters of balloons, which later in the evening were released and caused much fun.

On their arrival the guests were received by the hostesses, who included: Mrs. B. C. Chilwell, black moss crepe and silver beaded blue georgette; Mrs. H. J. D. Mahon, leaf green tinsel lace; Mrs. 11. J. Coats, cobalt blue Chantilly lace; Mrs. W. M. Jackson, rust brown ring velvet; Mrs. R. S, W. Whitley, hlack souple satin; Mrs. H. T. Coote, Venetian blue ecru lace; Mrs. N. J. Kidd, black chenille and silver lame; Mrs. H. W. Atkinson, Burgundy chiffon velvet.

Tho debutantes were: Miss Flora Chilwell, white cellophane net with silver and pale pink flowers on the neckline; Miss Ruth - Whitley, ivory triple ninon cut on Grecian lines; Miss Molly Jackson, white triple ninon cut on flowing lines; Miss Peggy Coote, white matelasse crepe with plaited silver shoulder straps; Miss Mavis Brown, white taffeta trained frock with touches of silver lame; Miss Helen Coats, white souple satin with corsage of white and silver flowers; Miss Dulcie Mahon, white taffeta with gold and silver at the neckline; Miss Betty Atkinson, ivory chiffon cut on long flowing lines with flared train; Miss Pat Kidd, white angel-skin lace with cowled front lined with silver lame.
