ATHENIAN CLUB.
A 'fßurlingtoij Bertie" evening was keld by the Athenian Club in the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall on Saturday. Members disported themselves in top hats, monocles and gold lorgnettes, and wholeheartedly entered- into the spirit of the evening. A bright and varied entertainment of the club's usual high standard was presented, including a marionette show by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bailey, songs by Miss K. Chrietie and Mr. Geoffrey Colledge, whistling solos by Mr. Purdy, and conjuring by Mr. Harris. Members who took part in the opening scene were Misses Noni Wright, Edna Craig, Norah Kirkby, -Messrs. Charles Anderson, Wilfred Wright, John Crichton-Smith, Jim Foley, Jack Parsons and C. Seale. Mr and Mrs. Wilfred Wright acted as host and hostess, the latter wearing a frock of black crushed velvet.
