WORLD'S ILLS.

COULD BE CURED.

Economist Regrets Tendency

Towards War.

"POSITION GETTING WORSE." 1 '(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 5. Moving a resolution urging the Government to initiate negotiations with a view to the provisional stabilisation of currencies to remove trade obstacles and reverse the trend of economic nationalisation in order to complete the work of the Economic Conference, Sir George Paish told the Council of the League of Nations Union that some people might think' the resolution was unnecessary as trade was improving and the world was getting out of its difficulties. On the contrary the position was getting worse. Signor Mussolini was making efforts to divert Italians' attention from economic distress by military action in Abyssinia. Germany might eventually combine with Poland to attack Russia and secure food and lands. Britain was no longer leading the world towards well-being. If Viscount Cecil and similar men throughout the world were able to act they could solve tho world's difficulties. The resolution was carried.
