GISBORNE FIRE.
FIRST FOR FIVE MONTHS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) • GISBORNE, this day.' The first outbreak of fire to do any damage in Gisboines during the last five months occurred last, evening, when a six-roomed house in Crawford Eoad was gutted. The outbreak is believed to have started from a candle which was left near a bed. When the only occupant of. the dwelling awakened the flames, fanned by a strong wind, had a strong hold, and the brigade was presented with a difficult task in preventing complete destruction. The building was insured with the State office for £500.
