A KILLING FROST.
Reports from England say: "Very severe frosts occurred on May 16, 17 and 18. tVom every part of the British Isles, as well as from the Continent, comes the same story of ruin—ruined plants, ruined flower crops, ruined vegetable crops, ruined hopes. There appear.* to be no doubt that strawberry crops arc irreparably damaged and it seems to bo equally certain that plum crops everywhere will be a total failure. In the nursery trade, every grower has a tale of woe to tell. Millions of boxed plants which were being hardened off were literally mown down, while the gardens all present harrowing pictures of wilting foliage and dead buds."
