An old landmark, the home of Mr. R. L. Gibbs, on the Te Matai Road, near Palmerston North, was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. Mr. Gibbs, who was in the house with Mr. R. The occupants made a rapid escape, only having time to remove a few clothes. The front portion of the house had been standing, for about 60 years.
