ACCIDENTAL DEATH.

INQUEST ON OLD MAN. A verdict of accidental death was returned by tho coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the inquest yes tenia v v afternoon into the death of John" Joseph Windsor, aged 09, of 55, Collingwood Street, Ponsonby. Deceased was knocked down hv a taxi driven by Edward Fletcher, ajod 22, of 202, Jervois Road, at 0.20 p.m. on April 2", at the intersection of Franklin Road and Wellington Street. He died in the Auckland Hospital from shock following the injuries received. He was deaf and suffered from an oli leg injury, which necessitated his using a stick. 'His eyesight was defective", and he was carrying two bottles of beer when lie was knocked down. "Although the taxi may have been travelling too fast across' an intersection," remarked the coroner, "here was a man whose infirmities should have kept him home at night, instead of wandering around the streets unprotected."
