LIQUOR AT SHOW.
KAIPARA CONTROVERSY. HOSTILE VOTE AT PAPAROA. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAPABOA, thie day. A special meeting of members of the North Kaipara A. and P. Association was held to consider a resolution moved by Mr C. A. Jenkins, seconded by Mr. C. Thomas, to the effect that the committee of the association be recommended to call tenders for the establishment of an alcoholic liquor booth at the next show. The County Council room wae packed to the doors by ardent supporters of both sides. > Speakers for the motion were careful to explain that they were not habitual drinkers, and speakers against it explained just as earnestly that they were not " wowsers." There was a long discussion, in which Messrs. O. O.| Hames, A. Bull, T. Wilson, E. T. Birtles, E. A. Fenwick, D. O'Shea, and M. Hanlon, amongst others, joined. Dr. E. T. Dawson and Mr. D. Withers were appointed scrutineers, and the vote was taken. It resulted in 26 votes for and 29 against the motion.
