ILLNESS AMONG HENS.

A Mission Bay resident, writes that a White Leghorn hen which died some three months ago was opened and found to contain about a pint and a. half of greenish fluid. Now another; lieu appears swollen and is drinking a lot. The greenish fluid indicated peritonitis, and was undoubtedly due to an internal rupture, probably of the gall bladder. There may possibly have been some inherent weakness in the bird, but the method of feeding, as indicated, is not at fault, and the case is hardly likely to be repeated. If, however, the fresh case turns" out to bo of a similar nature, examine the gall bladder and write \igain saying what condition was found. Make sure the birds cannot get at any supply of salt, as, in quantities of more than 1 per cent, salt can be very harmful.
