S.F.C.A. ACTIVITIES.
The S.P.C.A. ladies' committee met yesterday afternoon, Mrs. B. J. Marquet presiding. Mrs. St. Clair Chaney, honorary secretary, reported on the success of the bridge afternoon held recently. Arrangements were finalised in connection with the Winter Show stall, Mrs. Ackland, convener, reporting that a large number of gifts had been received. A special vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. P. H. Smith, of East Tamaki, for her donation of £4 from the proceeds of the juvenile gymkhana, held a few months ago. The society receives a donation of this nature yearly from Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Burton, organiser of the Junior League, reported steady progress among the young folk. The president, Mrs. N. 0. White, complimented the- ladies on their splendid efforts on behalf of the society.
