FORGERY CHARGE.
WEDDING HITCH RECALLED. TRANSACTION WITH CHEQUE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. - A case in North Auckland early last month, when a wedding fixed to take place at Maungakaramea on May li> was postponed because the prospective bn logroom failed to attend on account of his arrest on a charge of having explosives in his possession, was recalled in the Police Court here to-day, when the man then concerned, Donald James Stewart, aged 23, alias Mervyn McIntosh appeared before -Mr. K. 1. Reid, J.P. He was charged with forging a cheque for £5 in the name of P. Manning, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand at Morrinsville on April 13, 1933. A remand was granted till \\ ednGWhen accused asked for suppression of his name Detective White told the Bench he was ineligible. He had .lust been brought from DargavilJe, where be served a month's imprisonment for bein" unlawfully in possession of gelignite. In addition to the present forgery charge, other charges, all •Iα ones, were pending. Whenever interviewed regarding them Stewart had denied his identity. Suppression of name was ret used.
