STREET COLLECTIONS.
IF NOT FRIDAYS—WHEN 1 Expressing the view that suburban through street collections being taken up on Fridays, a letter was received from the Mount Eden Borough Council at last night s meeting of the Auckland Suburban and Local Bodies' Association, asking the association to express an opinion as to whether street collections should be permitted on some other day of the week than Friday. Recently the Mount Eden Borough Council had granted the St John Ambulance Association permission to take up a collection m the borough, the day to be other than a Fr The y ' chairman. Mr. I. J: Goldstine, said that six years ago at a conference with the Citv Council it was decided that on B even-da?s only each year street ejections be allowed. "I thrnk we should trv to work in with the city and oT f the local bodies and city cdiild not have some uniformity in the matter."" said Mr. Goldstine. Tt was decided to secure an expression of opinion on the matter from the various local bodies.
