MANGAWAI BLOCK.

SETTLEMENT PROJECT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Friday. Some time ago Mr. A. J. Murdoch, M.P., wrote to the Minister of Lands in reference to the opening up of the Mangawai Block for settlement. He has now received a reply from the Minister, who states that a conference between the officers of the Lands Department, Public Works Department and Labour Department has been held, and it has been decided that the officer in charge of the Labour Department at Auckland should further investigate the position with a view to the establishment of a camp to carry out the necessary work for the opening up of the reserve. This investigation will be made as soon as possible.
