YORKSHIRE FOR WOOL.
Reviewing last, wool season, Messrs. Winchcombe, Carson, Ltd., state: — Yorkshire has certainly been the basic consuming influence which has put wool values on firmer ground. The export of 1,035,892 bales of Australian wool to Great Britain during the first ten months of the selling year is at least a post-war record. The whole of that raw material was not for English consumption, but the bulk of it was. A large part of the balance has been bought to replace raw material which wae eold to Europe in the form of -treated wool, tops and yarns. The British mills and also the Japanese establishments, have been better j employed than those elsewhere. Their continuous buying of the staple was the chief cause of supplies disappearing, and by' that means has promoted confidence among users in other
