SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

NORTH SHORE GROUP. The first scries of Rugby matches under the North Shore Schools' jurisdiction was played last week. The games in both grades were evenly contested, the scoring in every case being fairly close. Ihere was only one senior match, Devonport playing "Belmont on the Belmont ground. Belmont were the victor by 9 to 0. For Belmont, H. Hustler (the champion mile runner of Auckland primary schools) scored two tries and H. Booth kicked a penalty goal. Booth, Hustler, Jones, Bramley, and Osbnkliston (Belmont), and Burnett, Yates, Charlton, and Lowther (Devonport) were the outstanding players. Belmont juniors 6, were successful in downing Vauxhall 0, in a fast and keenly contested game. For Belmont, H. Mason scored two determined tries. Takapuna juniors 3, just managed to scrape home ahead of Devonport 0. Soccer Contests. Playing on the Devonport Domain, the Soccer matches were carried a stage further. . Convent and Belmont seniors fought out a strenuous game, the match finally ending in Convent's favour by 2 goals to 1. Playing on No. 1 ground, Devonport seniors % were successful in gaining the decision over Vauxhall 1. Belmont juniors retained their unbroken series of wins by defeating Devonport B by 2 goals to 0. At the end of the first round Devonport seniors and Belmont juniors are at the head of the competition ladders.
