MR. MACKENZIE T 0 RETIRE. LONG SERVICE TO COLLEGE. The chairman of the Auckland University College Council, Mr. Kenneth Mackenzie, has announced his intention not to seek re-election to the council. His term there closed at the end of the first term of the college year, and though he was eligible for re appointment, he withheld his name from nomination.

"I do not feel that I can- give the requisite time and attention that the office of president demands," he said this morning. lie added that he had made his decision only after careful consideration. Mr. Mackenzie has been associated with the college for many years. He was first elected to the council in 1920 and became vice-president in 1925. On the retirement of the late Hon. Sir George Fowlds he was elected president in 1933.
