KARAKA NOTES.

The Karaka Hall improvement committee held a successful concert and dance last Saturday, which resulted in a pood sum being realised for further improvements to the interior of the hall. An attractive colour scheme of (lowers, greenery and streamers provided a pretty stage setting. Contributions to the concert programme were: —Pianoforte solos, Miss Doris Charles: songs, by Mrs. Howie, Miss Julie Williams and Mr. C. Wood; ducts, by Mr. and Mrs. S. Bagnall, and humorous monologues by Mr. S. Bagnall. "Ici en Parle Francis," a one-act playlet, was performed by Mrs. Howie, Misses Amos, Bollard and McParland, Messrs. Hoekins, Waygood and Myatt (Auckland). An enjoyable dance followed supper. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss N. Powder and Mr. Biddick.
