THE OPENING DAY. PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, this day. Four days' racing will commence here to-morrow, with the opening of the Dunedin .Jockey Club's winter meeting— three days—followed by the Forbury Park Trotting Club's special meeting on Wednesday of next week. For the opening the Wingatui track is likely to be soft after the rain during the last few days, but with the weather showing signs of clearing it should not bo in bad order. With good iielcls and with so many country people and visitors to the city for the Winter Show, the meeting promises- to be a most successful one. The jumping events, as usual, promise to prove a big draw. The club lias again adopted the win and place system of betting. The following may run prominently:— Tahuna Steeplechase. — Red Lance, Graball, Tunamoe. Trial Handicap.—Mount Val, Coatcttc, Frenchie. Brighton Handicap.—Milford. Daring Deed, Royal Pal. Otago Steeplechase.—Umtali, Graball, French Fleet. Provincial Handicap. — Nightform, Fracas, Double Shot. June Hurdles. — Lycidas, Palmary, Sunward. Winter Handicap. — Kemal Pasha, Assemble, Sea Fox. St. Clair Handicap.—Gold FoX, Unseen, Braw Lad.
