DEATH OF MAORI CHIEF.

One of the best known Maoris of the Bay of Plenty, Rahiri Ngawharau, a leading chief of the Ngaiteranginui tribe, died at Wairoa, near Tauranga. He was about 00 years of age. In his earlier years Rahiri was a noterf runner, also a * Rugby player. He leaves a wife, two sons and* five daughters.
