THE "SUN."
With the passing of the-"Sun" (the shareholders have yet to approve of the merger) Christchurch will be left in a position similar to Auckland — one morning paper and one evening paper. The capital subscribed was £41,000, and the first editor was Mr. E. C. Huie, and he. retained that position till 1925, when he became managing director. In 1925 the "Sun" Newspapers, whicli' then incorporated the Canterbury Publishing Co., issued a prospectus which had for its object the raising of capital, .£300,000 in £1 shares (including 100,000 fully paid up shares to lie allotted to the Canterbury Publishing Co.), to launch a daily newspaper, the "Sun," in Auckland. The "Sun" was fin-it published in Auckland "on March, 23, 1927, and ceased on September 20, 15)30, it having been purchased by New Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., and incorporated in 'the "Auckland S,tar."
