TURKISH MUSIC GOES MODERN.

ANKARA, March 25,

Turkish music has gone modern by law because Mustaplia Kcmal, president of the republic, expressed the belief that "our music does not do us honour. Radio companies have withdrawn Oriental and Turkish music from programmes and cafe concerts. Night clubs have been warned not to play Eastern tunes. Musicians who play the four standard stringed instruments of Turkish orchestras are finding it necessary to think in tenor-banjo terms.
