LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS. JJIRED JgARTRAM'S fJUCKET. " 7 RIDES A SHILLING," an outstanding success! Since he introduced It " THE LITTLE SQUARE TICKET " sold on the Trams has saved the Board £723 in commission. Fred wants " PENNY SECTIONS," but is nfter what he can get in the meanwhile. Notwithstanding the Manager's adverse reports to his proposals: — " 8 RIDES A SHILLING " would mean greater convenience and increased revenue. A " CD SPORTS EXCURSION TICKET " on Saturday Afternoons would PAY—in Cash and Popularity. On September 23, 1924. Mr. Bartram, in Parliament, urged the Railway Department to institute cheap Week-end Excursion Fares to Rotorua, etc. After ten years' delay the Department did what he had advised. About a week ago the Press of the Dominion published the most hopeful Railways Report for years. Give Fred a chance to apply the Weekend Excursion idea to our Trains. -yOTE BACK ON THE TRANSPORT BOARD. 7 JJOSPITAL BOARD ELECTION. JJAROLD gCHMIDT, CHEMIST AND OPTICIAN, INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE, Proposes that: 1. The Board, being representative of the electors who pay the staff, must retain supreme control. 2. Xo member of the hospital staff should be dismissed without tlie consent of tin? Chairman of the Board, and all employees must have the light of appeal to the Board. 3. The cuisine to patients needs improving. 4. The hospital should not be enlarged, thus putting (lie ratepayers to further expense, but tlie staff of outdoor doctors increased and a staff of nurses organised to treat many in their own homes. 3. Harold Schmidt, being a Registered Optician and Pharmacist, could lie of service to the Board in these brunches of hospital business. In necessitous cases City and Suburban Councils accept service as payment for rate accounts—So should the Hospitul also accept service and product notes instead of bad debts and thus allow patients to retain their dignity and self-rcspeet as paying guests. The Hospital Board should be outside the Milk Council Regulations. If you vote tickets you encourage Tnminauyism, so vote Independents in all issues.
