AUCKLAND COMPLAINT. % TT7 —fM ' J f NO REFRIGERATED SPACE.* Attention to the fact that there appeared to be atv anonuiloiK position in that local shipping companies were unable to cater for.the carriage of refrigerated cargo from the South Island was drawn by Mr. A. C. Norden at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. "None of the steamers engaged in the trade possesses any refrigerated space.'' said Mr. Norden. "The overseas vessels have adequate refrigerated space, but are precluded from engaging in the New Zealand coastal trade." In reply to a question. Mr. Norden admitted that the quantity of refrigerating cargo offering was irregular. He said that a firm in Christchurch wanted to ship 200 tins of frozen egg pulp to Auckland, but as no refrigerated space was available, was unable to do so. Mr. D. Carter mentioned that there was refrigerated space available on the Monowai from Wellington to Auckland, but not from the South Island. No action was taken.
